About the role
The successful candidate will undertake research management and coordination of the working closely with consortium partners. The candidate will need to develop strong relationships with the funding and partner organisations; navigate research governance issues; monitor progress against the work plan at both programme and country-programme levels.
Duration: 5 years
Duties:
Provide managerial and intellectual leadership on the development of research programs in fragile and conflict affected states.
Lead on the development of technical and implementation strategies for research program delivery.
Develop and execute a comprehensive research projects to provide UK decision-makers with policy-relevant insights concerning modern conflict
Support cooperation and coordination between partners including field teams, think tanks and research institutions.
Quality assure research undertaken by research partners.
Monitoring the research standards and designing measures for closer alignment with donor standards.
Represent the research consortium to the client in all aspects of project design and delivery.
Ensure that research is accessible, disseminated and promote uptake among government officials
About you
Extensive FCAS experience, preferably in the Middle East, Horn of Africa and the Sahel.
A university degree – ideally a doctorate – in conflict, security studies, or another qualification relevant to the post
Several years of research experience in an institution with international partners
Experience in practice-oriented research, demonstrated by a track record of publications and reports
Experienced in the use of innovative research approaches and applying technology-based tools to access conflict drivers
In-depth professional experience in the field of conflict dynamics and understanding of the relationship between trans-national networks (flows of people, weapons and resources) and conflict drivers
Familiarity with the MENA and Horn of Africa regions is desirable
Fluency in English with knowledge of Arabic advantageous
