ActionAid Arab Region Initiative (AA ARI) is looking for Communication Officer is responsible to develop and deliver communication plan and create, collect, coordinate, document and disseminate internal and external visibility materials and media requirements in consultation with line manager and concerned stakeholders of ActionAid.

Key Activities
In accordance with ActionAid Arab Region's (AA AR) Office policy and procedures, the post holder will:
Strategic Engagement:
• In consultation with program team design and develop a dynamic regional information and communication plan, ensuring all parts if the organization is engaged and informed and that key change objectives and priorities are communicated effectively externally.
• Working with the Head of Recourse Mobilization develop a Communication Strategy.
• Lead on meeting donor visibility.
• Proactively identify potential resource persons and service providers for media work and create an up to date database.
• Ensure AAI communication criteria and requirements are shared widely with all stakeholders of AA AR to ensure everybody is aware and practicing the standards.
• Monitor news and information that is linked to AA AR strategy and objectives to share critical information with concerned teams.
• Attend media/communication network meetings on the protracted crises and other key identified issues of relevance to AA AR.
• Networking and meeting with journalists in the region and pitching stories.
Media Engagement:
• Collecting materials (pictures, interviews, as well as video sequences) and written content for AA AR website and other channels.
• Manage and run campaigns on AA AR social media channels.
• Manage AA AR website in conjunction with AAI Comminications team.
• Update ActionAid’s internal communication platform the “Hive” and update and maintain the documentation of our work on other internal communication platform, update new stories to the communication Hub.
• Write up stories and case studies to update AA AR website (in Arabic & English).
• Develop videos to cover AA AR work.
• Develop visibility materials such as brochures, flyers etc in English and Arabic.
• Lead on the production of communication products in English and Arabic such as regular newsletter, reports, bulletins, videos and innovative new platforms.
• Produce monthly newsletters.
• Capture and share innovative engagement and learning with wider internal and external stakeholders.
• Work closely with the Head of Resource Mobilisation to build visibility and branding of AA AR.
Design and Support:
• Design materials for training linked to communication programmes in Arabic and in English when required.
• Support and train ActionAid staff and partners to produce a wide range of communication materials and incorporate online and social media strategic, enabling staff and the communities we work with to use the new technology to tell their stories to a regional/global audience.
• Coordinate and manage design, printing, translation and publication of communication materials including documentaries.

• Perform other duties when required by the Head of Resource Mobilisation or Regional Director.

Person Specification
Education & Certifications
• Bachelor’s degree in an area of social development or equivalent.
Essential Experience Knowledge and Skills
• Recommended 1- 2 years digital communications experience for a not for profit in both emergency and development contexts, preferably with solid experience in more than one of ActionAid Arab Region's programmatic priorities: humanitarian/protection, women rights and young people’s civic and political engagement.
• Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including influencing, negotiation and coaching.
• Highly developed cultural awareness and ability to work well in an international environment with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
• Strong results orientation, with the ability to challenge existing mindsets.
• Demonstrated capacity for effective teamwork and leadership abilities
• Excellent problem solver eager to share out-of-the-box ideas.
• Possess excellent skills in: Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat), Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel) and Content Management Systems. Basic design and HTML skills strongly preferred.
• Good experience in dealing with different donors visibility requirements.
• Fluency in Arabic and English.
• Experience in training and capacity building.
Desirable Knowledge, Experience and Skills
• Experience in or knowledge of the Arab Region.
• Knowledge of Human Rights Based Approach (HRBA).
